  For Immediate Release                   EOC Contact: Deputy State Fire Marshal Ron Bowen, (252) 912-4932  FIRE MOBILIZATION UPDATE  August 23, 2009 @ 4:00  GrantCounty Complex Fire (Douglas and KlickitatCounties)  The Grant County Complex and King Fire in DouglasCounty have demobilized.  DeadCanyon Fire (KlickitatCounty)  Mop-up operations went well last night and day shift personnel will continue to check for any remaining hot spots.  One strike team has been demobed this morning and two more will be demobed and travel home this afternoon.  It is expected the remaining resources will be demobed at the end of shift tonight and travel home in the morning.  This plan will be dependent on the weather as the wind has picked up considerably today to 15-20 mph with 30 mph gusts.  TexasLakeFire (WhitmanCounty)  The Texas Lake Fire demobilized at 2000 on 8-22-09. The fire size is 1,500 acres. This may change slightly as better GPS of the perimeter was done today.  Oden Fire (OkanoganCounty)  7,800 acres 0% containment  The fire has moved into timber on the NW corner of the fire and is actively burning. The WA Type 2 IMT (IC Johnson) transitioned yesterday at 1800 and is fully engaged.  All 7 mobilization strike teams have arrived and been assigned.  Preliminary reports indicate that 2 primary residences have been lost.  Anticipated weather: mid to upper 80s with northwesterly winds 10-15 mph.  Gusts up to 25.   Crews will be out today working to build or strengthen control lines. The northwest winds may help push the continued burn in the NW corner of the fire back into previous burn. If the weather conditions permit some burn out operations will be completed  today. Dry Creek Complex (Benton and YakimaCounties)  Dry Creek Fire is currently listed as 40,000 acres. A Type II IMT is in place and states the fire is 50% contained. As of 1100 State Mobilization Resources were beginning to demobilize.    The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at CampMurray has been activated to Phase II, to coordinate state assistance for the Grant County Complex.  Personnel from the Office of the State Fire Marshal will be en-route to the scene of the fire to coordinate dispatch of resources, while other personnel are staffing the State EOC at CampMurray.  Under the mobilization plan, the Fire Protection Bureau will be coordinating the initial dispatch of firefighters, engines, water tenders, and helicopters.  The Washington State Fire Services Mobilization Plan is implemented to provide personnel, equipment and other resources from around the state when wildfires exceed the firefighting capacity of local jurisdictions.  More information about the Washington State Fire Services Mobilization Plan is available at: http://wsp.wa.gov/fire/wildfire.htm.
