Fire Mobilization Ordered for the Stuhlmiller Fire

 

State fire assistance has been mobilized to support local firefighters working to contain the Stuhlmiller Fire near the town of Trinidad, WA. 

 

Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on July 22, 2008 at 8:15 p.m.  Fire Chief Fortier of Grant County Fire District #3 and Fire Chief Fenton of Douglas County Fire District #2 requested the mobilization of state resources all local resources and mutual aid had been expended.

 

Mobilization specialists from the Fire Protection Bureau ordered a Type 3 Incident Management Team under Incident Commander Bruce Holloway, 5 strike teams of wildland engines and one strike team of water tenders

 

The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at Camp Murray has been activated to Phase II, to coordinate state assistance for the Stuhlmiller Fire.

 

Personnel from the Office of the State Fire Marshal are traveling to the scene of the fire to coordinate dispatch of resources, while other personnel are staffing the State EOC at Camp Murray.

 

Under the mobilization plan, the State Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for mobilizing firefighting resources.  The Washington State Fire Services Mobilization Plan is implemented to provide personnel, equipment and other resources from around the state when wildfires exceed the firefighting capacity of local jurisdictions.  More information about the Washington State Fire Services Mobilization Plan is available at: http://wsp.wa.gov/fire/wildfire.htm.
